In the early morning hours of a Saturday in August 2014, the life of 18-year-old Dillon Walker was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. in the driveway of a residence on Routt Road, where Dillon was with a 17-year-old friend. According to police reports, the two teenagers were playing with a gun when the weapon discharged, inflicting a fatal wound upon Dillon.
Neither of the young men resided at the address where the shooting occurred.
Following the event, law enforcement officials took the 17-year-old into custody, and he was subsequently charged in connection with Dillon's death. In a poignant tribute to his uncle's memory, Dillon had dedicated a significant amount of effort to a school project, vetting the names of fallen soldiers for a new memorial. His dedication earned him the distinction of being named an honorary member of the Kentucky National Guard, who planned to place a brick with his name at the very memorial he had worked to help create.
