On a cold January evening in Louisville, Kentucky, 15-year-old Tyler Russell was walking home with a friend after playing basketball. The night of January 13, 2016, took a tragic turn near the intersection of 20th and Market streets when a gunshot rang out. His friend recalls Tyler initially thinking he had been hit by a paintball. Moments later, the young man collapsed, having been struck by a bullet.
