Overview

Larry Green was one of four men convicted for a series of racially motivated murders known as the "Zebra murders," which terrorized San Francisco, California, between October 1973 and April 1974. Alongside his accomplices—J.C.X. Simon, Manuel Moore, and Jessie Lee Cooks—Green targeted white victims in a spree that resulted in at least 15 deaths and eight injuries. The group referred to themselves as the "Death Angels."

The Zebra murders were characterized by random, execution-style attacks on unsuspecting individuals, primarily at night along San Francisco's Divisadero Street corridor. The perpetrators used firearms and machetes to carry out their assaults, instilling fear throughout the city.

• Ilario Bertuccio, 81 – December 20, 1973: Shot four times while walking home from work.
• Neal Moynihan, 19 – December 22, 1973: Shot three times while walking near Market Street.
• Mildred Hosler, 65 – December 22, 1973: Shot four times at point-blank range within minutes of Moynihan's murder.
• Unidentified victim – December 24, 1973: Dismembered body found at Ocean Beach, head, hands, and feet missing.
• Tana Smith, 32 – January 28, 1974: Shot on the sidewalk, six blocks from her home.
• Vincent Wollin, 69 – January 28, 1974: Shot twice in the back while digging through trash cans for items to repair and sell.
• John Bambic, 87 – January 28, 1974: Shot twice in the back; died immediately.
• Jane Holly, 45 – January 28, 1974: Shot twice in the back while doing her laundry.
• Thomas Rainwater, 19 – April 1, 1974: Shot while walking with a friend.
• Nelson T. Shields IV, 23 – April 16, 1974: Shot in the back three times while loading a rug into a friend's car.
