Garcia Glen White: A Detailed Account of His Crimes
Early Life and Background
Garcia Glen White was born on February 4, 1963, in Houston, Texas. He attended Wheatley High School, where he was noted for his love of football, and later continued his studies at Lubbock Christian University. A knee injury prematurely ended his athletic career, leading White to drop out and work various jobs, including as a fry cook, house painter, and sandblaster. During this period, he developed a drug addiction that contributed to his increasingly violent behavior.
First Known Murder: Greta Williams
In the autumn of 1989, White visited a crack house in Houston, where he had an argument with 27-year-old Greta Williams, a prostitute. The confrontation escalated, resulting in White beating Williams to death. At the time, he was not connected to this crime.
The Edwards Family Murders
Shortly after the first incident, White began frequenting another crack house—an apartment in northeast Houston occupied by 38-year-old Bonita Edwards and her twin 16-year-old daughters, Bernette and Annette. The apartment was often used by drug users, much to the dismay of Edwards' daughters, who had attempted to move in with their grandmother out of fear.
On November 30, 1989, White visited the apartment intending to use drugs and engage in sexual activity with Bonita. When she refused, he became enraged and stabbed her multiple times. Her daughters, alarmed by the commotion, emerged from their rooms. White sexually assaulted Annette before stabbing her in the chest and slashing her throat. He then proceeded to the bathroom, where Bernette was hiding, and committed the same heinous acts. After the murders, he partially covered Annette's body with a blanket and shoved a towel inside Bernette's mouth before fleeing the scene.
The bodies remained undiscovered until December 2, 1989, when Edwards' concerned boyfriend, King Solomon, went to the apartment to check on them. Upon finding the door unanswered and neighbors unaware of their whereabouts, he asked the maintenance man to open the door. Solomon discovered the gruesome scene and immediately notified the police. Despite extensive investigations, no viable suspects were identified, and the triple murder remained a cold case for six years.
