In July 1989, Greta Williams, a 27-year-old African American woman, was found brutally murdered in Houston, Texas. Williams had recently relocated from Chicago to Houston in search of a fresh start. Her body was discovered rolled up in a carpet inside a vacant house, and she had been beaten beyond recognition. The violent nature of her death shocked her family and community, and the case remained unsolved for several years.
