On the morning of June 18, 1990, Pough entered a General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) loan office in Jacksonville, Florida. Armed with a .38 caliber revolver and a semi-automatic rifle, he began shooting indiscriminately at employees and customers. His attack lasted for several minutes before he turned the gun on himself.
