John Peter Malveaux was born in 1964 in Opelousas, Louisiana. Little is known about his personal life, but he was an altar boy as a child and later moved to a trailer park in Lafayette. He married a woman and had six boys. Despite being considered a friendly and respected man by his neighbors, Malveaux had drinking problems and a strained relationship with the local Apostolic Church.Crimes
Malveaux committed a series of heinous crimes between January and October 1997. His victims were primarily women, and his methods included rape and strangulation. Below is a detailed account of his known victims:- Diane Sam: Sexually assaulted and strangled on February 20, 1997, after refusing to have sex with Malveaux. Her body was found at an apartment complex in Opelousas.
- Carolyn Breaux Nichols: Raped and strangled in July 1997. Her body was found near the St. Landry Parish Airport.
- Tamika Blake Wilson: Raped and strangled in July 1997. Her body was also found near the St. Landry Parish Airport.
- Tammy Duplechin Smith: Raped and strangled on October 29, 1997. Her body was found in a rural spot in Evangeline Parish.
Arrest and Investigation
