Tamika Blake Wilson, a young African American woman visiting from Baltimore, Maryland, tragically lost her life in July 1997. She was one of the victims of John Peter Malveaux, a serial killer and rapist who terrorized Opelousas, Louisiana, between 1996 and 1997. Malveaux, who was later convicted of multiple counts of first-degree murder and rape, targeted Wilson and another woman, Carolyn Breaux Nichols, in the same month.
