In the late afternoon of a summer day in Washington, D.C., violence shattered the quiet of a residence in the Benning neighborhood. On July 7, 2023, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District were dispatched to a home in the 4100 block of Ames Street, Northeast, around 3:50 p.m. following a report of a shooting.
