In the late hours of a Wednesday night in Washington, D.C., a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 1300 block of U Street SE. It was approximately 11:57 p.m. on May 27, 2020, when Stephan Deon Nicholson, a 30-year-old male, was fatally shot in the Anacostia neighborhood. In the immediate aftermath, a vehicle transported him two blocks away to a local fire station. Desperately seeking help, Nicholson managed to bang on the front door before collapsing.
