George Adorno: A Detailed Account of His Crimes
Early Life and Troubled Beginnings
George Adorno was born in 1959 in New York City to Puerto Rican immigrants. His propensity for violence emerged early; at the age of four, he set his sister on fire. By the time he was 15, Adorno had been arrested 16 times, primarily for theft-related offenses.
The 1974 Triple Homicide
In 1974, at the age of 15, Adorno was implicated in a triple homicide during a robbery. He confessed to the killings in the presence of a district attorney and his sister. However, his mother, who did not speak English, was not present during the confession. This absence led a juvenile magistrate to dismiss the confession and the three homicide charges. Consequently, Adorno was convicted on a lesser charge of robbery and sentenced to three years of confinement. His juvenile record was sealed in accordance with state law.
The Murder of Steven Robinson
After serving half of his sentence, Adorno was released. Nineteen days later, on February 23, 1977, he committed another murder. The victim, Steven Robinson, was a law student working as a cab driver to support his education. Adorno, along with accomplices Mark Davis (17) and Calvin Gaddy (15), robbed and killed Robinson. Adorno pleaded guilty to the murder on July 12, 1977, and received a sentence of 15 years to life. His accomplices also pleaded guilty and received identical sentences.
