In the early hours of a summer morning in Brooklyn, New York, the life of a young Hispanic man, Luis Ortiz, was cut short. On July 17, 2017, the 19-year-old male was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his chest in the Canarsie neighborhood. The incident occurred at approximately 1:43 a.m. behind a building on East 104th Street.
