A 28-year-old man, Romello Hayes, was fatally shot on Sunday, September 25, 2022, in Brooklyn, New York. Hayes, a resident of Decatur Street, was brought to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Bushwick by private means at approximately 6:41 a.m. He was suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and his right hand.
Despite receiving medical treatment at the hospital, Hayes died from his injuries a short time after his arrival.
The individuals who transported him to the medical facility did not remain at the scene, leaving many questions for investigators. The police were still working to determine the location of the shooting and the circumstances that led to the incident.
The case was reported to the 83rd Precinct, and the investigation into his murder is ongoing. As of late September 2022, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting, and police had not publicly identified any suspects.
