On October 29, 2023, in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, 27-year-old Chinwai Mode and his stepfather, 47-year-old Bladimy Mathurin, were fatally shot in their apartment building. The incident stemmed from a prolonged dispute with their downstairs neighbor, 47-year-old Jason Pass, over noise complaints.
