On the night of October 26, 2024, 16-year-old Taearion Mungo was fatally shot in the chest at approximately 11:45 p.m. outside a building on Auburn Place within the Walt Whitman Houses, a public housing complex in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Emergency responders transported him to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
