On a cold January evening in Brooklyn, 15-year-old Javel Lawton, a male student at the Canarsie Educational Campus, was fatally shot. The incident occurred on January 2, 2024, outside the Bayview Houses in Canarsie, a neighborhood he had previously called home. He was found with a gunshot wound to his torso and was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
