On a late summer morning in Brooklyn, the life of 37-year-old Donnell Thomas was abruptly cut short. The Crown Heights resident was near the intersection of St. Johns Place and Troy Avenue, just a short distance from his home, when he was shot in the chest. The incident occurred around 8:09 a.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
