On the morning of September 1, 2024, Donnell Thomas, a 37-year-old resident of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, was fatally shot near his home. The incident occurred around 8:09 a.m. near the intersection of St. Johns Place and Troy Avenue, just a half block from Thomas's residence.
