In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in August 2016, a tragic event unfolded on a street in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. Earnest Brown, a 33-year-old male resident of East New York, was fatally shot while sitting in his car. The incident also left a 22-year-old woman, who was in the vehicle with him, wounded. At approximately 1:00 a.m., violence shattered the quiet of Halsey Street when a shooter or shooters opened fire on Brown's vehicle.
