Robert Reldan, also known as the Bergen County Strangler, was a notorious serial killer who terrorized New Jersey communities in the 1970s. Born in 1940, Reldan grew up in New York before moving to Fort Lee, New Jersey, at age 11. His outward charm masked a violent criminal nature, earning him the nickname "The Charmer."

Crimes

Reldan's criminal career spanned decades and included multiple violent offenses. In 1967, he was convicted of rape in Teaneck and served three years in prison before being paroled. The most notorious chapter of Reldan's crimes occurred between 1974 and 1975, when he committed a series of brutal homicides.

• Mary Pryor (17) and Lorraine Kelly (16) - Disappeared on August 9, 1974, from North Bergen, New Jersey. Their bodies were found on August 13, 1974, in a wooded area near Montvale, New Jersey.
• Doreen Carlucci (14) and Joanne Delardo (15) - Vanished on December 13, 1974, from a church youth center in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Their bodies were discovered two weeks later in Manalapan Township, New Jersey.
• Susan Reynes (26) - Disappeared on October 6, 1975, from her home in Haworth, New Jersey. Her body was found on October 27, 1975, in a wooded region of Rockland County, New York.
• Susan Reeve (22) - Vanished on October 14, 1975, from Demarest, New Jersey. Her body was found two days later in Tallman State Park, New York.
• Denise Evans (15) and Carolyn Hedgepeth (15) - Disappeared on October 24, 1975, from Wilmington, Delaware. Their bodies were found on October 25, 1975, in Salem County, New Jersey.
