Investigation and Conviction
The disappearance of these young women prompted extensive investigations. In 1972, Lanham confessed to the rape and murder of several victims, including 22-year-old housewife Pamela Huebner, who went missing on June 9, 1971. Despite leading authorities to locations where he claimed to have disposed of Huebner's body, searches yielded no results, and her remains were never found. Lanham and Knoppa were subsequently arrested and charged. In the case of Linda Faye Sutherlin, both men were convicted of her murder. Knoppa received a 50-year prison sentence, while Lanham was sentenced to 25 years. While awaiting trial for other murders, Lanham attempted to escape from the Harris County Jail on December 30, 1973. During the escape attempt, he was shot and killed by police officers. Following Lanham's death, pending charges against Knoppa were dropped due to the loss of the primary witness against him. ...Read MoreVictims
