Early Life and Background
Born in 1859 in Lenars, Brandenburg, Germany, Friederich Wilhelm Hoellman immigrated to the United States in 1883 with his wife, Amelia. They settled in Grand Haven, Michigan, where Hollman worked as a farmer and sailor. After Amelia's death in 1887 during childbirth, Hollman remarried Augusta Pauline Rohde in 1888. The couple moved to Green Lake, Wisconsin, and had two children. In January 1892, Hollman abandoned his family, marking the beginning of a series of heinous crimes.
