Early Life and Background

Ricky Lee Green was born on December 27, 1960, in Fort Worth, Texas. His upbringing was marred by severe abuse at the hands of his father, Bill Green. Ricky and his siblings endured daily physical abuse, including being punched, subjected to electric shocks, and held underwater during fishing trips. At a young age, Ricky lost the use of one eye due to an accident involving barbed wire, leading to the insertion of a glass eye. He dropped out of school in the 8th grade and began working as a radiator repairman. Ricky later married Sharon Dollar, a fellow drug abuser who would become an accomplice in some of his crimes.

  • Details: Sixteen-year-old Jeffery Lynn Davis disappeared from Fort Worth. His nearly decapitated, mutilated, and castrated body was found in April 1985 in a swamp near the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge.

  • Date: October 12, 1985
  • Location: Boyd, Texas
  • Details: Green picked up 28-year-old Betty Jo Monroe, a topless dancer from Amarillo, and took her to his mobile home in Boyd. There, she was sexually assaulted, stabbed 17 times, struck with a hammer, and one of her breasts was mutilated. Her body was found the next day in a rural area in Flatwood.

  • Location: Fort Worth, Texas
  • Details: Green met 27-year-old Sandra Lorraine Bailey at a club in Fort Worth. She was sexually assaulted at Green's Fort Worth home, stabbed 30 times, and bludgeoned with a hammer. Her nude body was found in a drainage culvert near Henrietta on December 2, 1985.

  • Location: Fort Worth, Texas
  • Details: Green picked up 28-year-old KXAS-TV sales executive Steven M. Fefferman, who wanted to celebrate his birthday by having casual sex. Fefferman's body was found in his home, bound to his bed and stabbed to death. Green then covered the body with linen, stole money from the house, and fled in Fefferman's car.

Investigation and Arrest

Over the next two years, Sharon divorced Ricky and sought help from a drug addiction counselor in Stephenville. She eventually confessed that her ex-husband had committed multiple murders. Encouraged by the counselor, she informed local police, leading to Ricky's arrest on April 27, 1989.
