• Kimberly Ann Ruggles (December 1986) – A cab driver in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Gray kidnapped, raped, and murdered her. Her body was found with multiple stab wounds.
• Tammy Cofer (December 1986) – A Fort Bragg soldier whom Gray raped but did not kill. She survived and was a key witness in his trial.
• Private Laura Lee Vickery-Clay (December 15, 1986) – A fellow soldier stationed at Fort Bragg. Gray abducted her from her home, raped, and murdered her. Her body was found in a wooded area, showing signs of multiple stab wounds.
• Private Mary Ann Lang Nameth (January 1987) – Another soldier stationed at Fort Bragg. Gray brutally attacked, raped, and attempted to kill her, but she managed to escape and later testified against him.
• Linda Jean Coats (January 1987) – A civilian, brutally raped and murdered by Gray. Her body was found in a secluded area.
