Lyndon Fitzgerald Pace, born in July 1964 in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American serial killer and burglar. Between 1988 and 1989, he terrorized Atlanta's Vine City neighborhood by targeting elderly African American women living alone. His modus operandi involved breaking into their homes, sexually assaulting them, and then strangling them to death. Pace was convicted of four murders and sentenced to death for his crimes.Confirmed Victims
- Lula Bell McAfee
- Age: 86
- Date of Death: August 28, 1988
- Location: 321 Simon St. S.E, Atlanta, Georgia
- Details: Found nude, sexually assaulted, and strangled with a combination of her bra and a rag. Her body was discovered in a kneeling position on the bed by a boarder. The crime occurred between the early evening of August 27 and the early morning of August 28, 1988.
- Mattie Mae McClendon
- Age: 78
- Date of Death: September 10, 1988
- Location: Near the Atlanta University Center, Atlanta, Georgia
- Details: Found lying dead on her bed, covered by a sheet. Initially showed no signs of foul play, but an autopsy revealed she had been sexually assaulted and manually strangled, leading to asphyxiation by suffocation. A window in her home had been broken.
- Johnnie Mae "John-John" Martin
- Age: 79
- Date of Death: February 4, 1989
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia
- Details: A retired practical nurse and respected community member, she was found strangled in her bed with a shoelace. The killer had entered by forcing open a window at the back of her house. Her younger sister discovered her body after she failed to return phone calls.
- Ann "Annie" Kate Britt
- Age: 42
- Date of Death: March 4, 1989
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia
- Details: Found naked and strangled with a sock by her sister. Her home had been broken into and ransacked. This death, along with the previous ones, was treated as part of a series of murders targeting elderly African American women living alone.
Suspected Victim
- Mary "Miz Mary" Hudson
- Age: 77
- Date of Death: September 18, 1992
- Location: Near the Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Georgia
- Details: Strangled and beaten in her duplex apartment. Unlike previous victims, she was found fully clothed and was not sexually assaulted. She had expressed fear of the local drug trade, and her death may have been related to that. Pace was never charged with this murder.
