Lula Bell McAfee, an 86-year-old African American woman, was found dead in her home in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 28, 1988. Her body was discovered by a boarder in her residence at 321 Simon St. S.E. in southeast Atlanta. She was found nude, kneeling on her bed, having been sexually assaulted and strangled with a combination of her bra and a rag. Authorities estimated that she had been killed sometime between the early evening of August 27 and the early morning of August 28.
