Early Life
Sean Patrick Goble was born on November 1, 1966, in Asheboro, North Carolina. He later moved to Illinois, where his father was convicted of a serious crime during Goble's childhood. Goble attended Auburn High School in Rockford, Illinois, but dropped out during his senior year in 1984. He served in the Army and later married, fathering a son. After his marriage ended, Goble returned to North Carolina in 1988 and began working as a truck driver in 1991. Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing approximately 225 pounds, Goble described himself as a ladies' man.Crimes
Goble's crimes spanned from 1994 to 1995, primarily targeting women he encountered at truck stops or along interstate highways. His known victims include:- Lisa Susan O'Rourke
- Age: 29
- Date of Death: January 1994
- Location: Body found under a bridge along Interstate 65 in Alabama
- Details: Goble picked up O'Rourke along Interstate 10 in either Louisiana or Mississippi. After engaging in sexual activity, he strangled her and disposed of her body in Alabama. Her body was discovered on January 23, initially believed to be a case of hypothermia, but later ruled a homicide. Her identity was confirmed in April 1994 through fingerprinting.
- Brenda Kay Hagy
- Age: 45
- Date of Death: January 23, 1995
- Location: Body found along an access road to Interstate 81 in Virginia
- Details: Hagy, a native of Bloomington, Indiana, had a history of trespassing at truck stops. Goble abducted her from a service station in Tennessee, raped, and strangled her, breaking her neck. He then transported her body to Virginia, where he disposed of it along an access road to Interstate 81. Her body was discovered later that day.
- Sherry Tew Mansur
- Age: 34
- Date of Death: February 19, 1995
- Location: Body found along Interstate 40 in North Carolina
- Details: Mansur had a history of arrests for prostitution. She was last seen on January 31, 1995, in Bowie, Maryland. Goble picked her up in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and after engaging in sexual activity, he strangled her. He disposed of her body along Interstate 40, where it was found on February 19. Initially unidentified, she was referred to as "Jane Doe" until her identification in April 1995.

- Age: 36
- Date of Death: March 19, 1995
- Location: Body found along Interstate 81 in Virginia
- Details: Hanes, from Columbus, Ohio, had prior convictions for prostitution. She hitchhiked from a truck stop in Salina, Kansas, to Tennessee, where Goble abducted and smothered her. He disposed of her body along Interstate 81 in Virginia, where it was discovered on March 19.
Arrest and Convictions
The investigation into Goble's crimes intensified after a plastic bag found near Hagy's body yielded a fingerprint matching Goble's from a prior arrest. He was apprehended on April 13, 1995, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A search of his truck revealed personal items belonging to Hanes, among other evidence. During interrogation, Goble confessed to the murders of Hagy, Hanes, and Mansur. Goble faced charges in multiple states:- Tennessee: Pleaded guilty to the murders of Hagy and Hanes, receiving two consecutive life sentences on December 15, 1995.
- North Carolina: Pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of Mansur, receiving an additional 14-year sentence.
