In the winter of 1994, the life of 29-year-old Lisa Susan O'Rourke was tragically cut short. A Caucasian woman from St. Louis, Missouri, her journey ended in Alabama, where her body was discovered on January 23, 1994. Initially, her death was attributed to hypothermia, a conclusion that would later be chillingly overturned, revealing a far more sinister cause.
Subsequent investigations unveiled a harrowing truth: Lisa had been murdered. The perpetrator was identified as Sean Patrick Goble, a man who would come to be known as 'The Interstate Killer'. A former truck driver, Goble confessed to a string of heinous crimes, including the murder of Lisa O'Rourke. He admitted to picking her up along Interstate 10, in either Louisiana or Mississippi. Following a sexual encounter, he strangled her to death. In a final, callous act, he disposed of her body under a bridge along Interstate 65 in Alabama.
The discovery of her remains on that cold January day marked the beginning of a long road to justice. It wasn't until April of the same year that her identity was confirmed through fingerprinting. The manhunt for her killer spanned several states and just over a year later, on April 13, 1995, Sean Patrick Goble was apprehended. He was subsequently charged with multiple murders, including that of Lisa O'Rourke. Goble was ultimately convicted of first-degree murder in Tennessee and second-degree murder in North Carolina. He is currently serving a life sentence for his crimes.
