Billy Lee Chadd was born on December 14, 1954, in San Diego County, California. Raised by parents who struggled with alcoholism, Chadd experienced a troubled upbringing. He dropped out of school early and became involved in criminal activities during his youth. At the age of 15, he committed rape, marking the beginning of his violent criminal record.

Confirmed Murders

Between 1974 and 1978, Chadd committed a series of brutal murders across multiple states. His known victims include:

• Patricia Franklin: On July 10, 1974, in San Diego, California, Chadd broke into Franklin's home, sexually assaulted her, and fatally stabbed her.
• Delmar Bright: In 1975, after moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, Chadd murdered Delmar Bright, a porter at the Fremont Hotel. Initially, another serial killer, Wayne Donald Horton, was suspected of this crime until Chadd confessed.
• Linda Hewitt: On April 17, 1978, in San Diego, California, Chadd raped and fatally stabbed Linda Hewitt.

Additional Confessions

Chadd also confessed to the murder of a male hitchhiker in June 1974 near Ellsworth, Kansas. He claimed to have beaten the man to death with a rock and disposed of the body, along with the victim's dog and belongings, in a creek.
