Larme Price: The "September 11 Killer"
Background
Larme Price, born on June 27, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American serial killer who murdered four individuals in New York City during a six-week period in 2003. Dubbed the "September 11 Killer," Price claimed his actions were driven by a desire to avenge the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. He targeted individuals he perceived to be of Middle Eastern descent, though not all his victims fit this profile. Price had a history of mental health issues and substance abuse, including the use of PCP, which can induce paranoia and delusions. Prior to the murders, he had been arrested multiple times for offenses such as robbery, burglary, assault, and weapons possession.
Crimes
Price's killing spree spanned from February 8 to March 20, 2003. His modus operandi involved entering small businesses and shooting the victims at close range, often without any provocation or robbery motive.
Victims
- February 8, 2003: John Freddy, 42, a Guyanese immigrant of Indian descent, was shot in the head while drinking coffee at the Central Mini Market in Ozone Park, Queens. Surveillance footage captured a man in a dark coat, baseball cap, and hooded sweatshirt approaching Freddy from behind and shooting him.
- February 8, 2003: Sukhjit "Sammy" Khajala, 50, an Indian immigrant and cashier at the Around-the-Clock Minimart in Mill Basin, Brooklyn, was shot in the face. The assailant took $169 from the cash register before leaving. Ballistics linked the bullet to the same .40-caliber gun used in Freddy's murder.
- March 10, 2003: Albert Kotlyar, 32, a Ukrainian immigrant and manager at Laundry King Superstore in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, was shot in the head while working. Price had been sitting in the laundromat drinking hot chocolate before approaching Kotlyar and shooting him.
- March 20, 2003: Mohammed Ali Nassir, 54, a Yemeni immigrant and clerk at the Stop II Food Market in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, was shot as he sat near the store's entrance. Price also shot Nassir's 20-year-old cousin, Yakoob Aldailam, who survived the attack.
