• Stacey Stanley: Found deceased in Ashland, Ohio, in September 2016. She was one of the two bodies discovered at Grate's residence.
• Elizabeth Griffith: Also found in Ashland, Ohio, in September 2016. Her body was located alongside Stacey Stanley's.
• Candice Cunningham: Murdered and her remains were discovered in Richland County, Ohio.
• Rebekah Leicy: Found deceased in Ashland County, Ohio. Grate confessed to her murder during his interrogation.
• Dana Nicole Lowrey: Murdered in Marion County, Ohio. Grate admitted to her killing as well.

Arrest and Conviction

Grate was apprehended on September 13, 2016, after a woman he had kidnapped and assaulted managed to call 911 while he was asleep. The police rescued her and discovered the bodies of Stacey Stanley and Elizabeth Griffith at his residence. During his interrogation, Grate confessed to the murders of three additional women. In 2018, Grate was convicted on two counts of aggravated murder and sentenced to death. He later pleaded guilty to three additional murders in 2019.
