Overview

Michael Wayne McGray is a Canadian serial killer who admitted to committing multiple murders across Canada between 1985 and 1998. He claimed to have killed as many as 16 people, though he was convicted of six murders. McGray’s lack of remorse and willingness to kill for the sake of it made him one of Canada's most chilling serial killers.

Murders and Victims

McGray was arrested in 1999 after confessing to the murder of Joan Hicks and her 11-year-old daughter Nina. His confessions led authorities to uncover multiple other victims, spanning over a decade.

• Elizabeth Gale Tucker (1985) - Dartmouth, Nova Scotia: 17-year-old Elizabeth was stabbed to death in her home. McGray later claimed responsibility for her murder, though it remained unsolved for years.
• Michael Trenholm (1991) - Saint John, New Brunswick: McGray stabbed and strangled 42-year-old Michael Trenholm in a random act of violence.
• Robert Assaly and Gaétan Ethier (1995) - Montreal, Quebec: In what McGray described as a thrill killing, he murdered 59-year-old Robert Assaly and 45-year-old Gaétan Ethier. Both men were strangled in a Montreal apartment.
• Joan Hicks and Nina Hicks (1998) - Moncton, New Brunswick: Joan Hicks, 48, and her 11-year-old daughter Nina were brutally murdered. Joan was strangled, while Nina was stabbed to death.

Arrest and Conviction

McGray was arrested in 1999 after police linked him to the murders of Joan and Nina Hicks. During his interrogation, he willingly confessed to additional killings, claiming he had murdered at least 16 people across Canada.
