Mass Murder at an Orange, California Office Complex (March 31, 2021)

Overview

On March 31, 2021, at about 5:30 p.m. PDT, a mass shooting occurred at a two-story office complex at 202 W. Lincoln Avenue in Orange, California. Four people were killed—including a 9-year-old boy—and a fifth adult was critically wounded. The suspect, Aminadab Gaxiola González, then 43–44 and a resident of Fullerton, was shot by police and taken into custody. Investigators later said the attack appeared targeted against a business operating inside the complex.

The Scene and Method

Responding officers arrived within minutes but initially could not reach victims in the courtyard because the entry gates had been locked from the inside with a bicycle-type cable lock. Shots were fired on both floors of the building, which housed a real-estate services office. Police recovered a semi-automatic handgun and a backpack containing pepper spray, handcuffs, and additional ammunition.

  • Leticia Solís Guzmán, 58 — Employee at the office complex; killed inside the building.
