Mass Murderer Nathan Dunlap – Chuck E. Cheese Shooting, 1993
Overview
In Aurora, Colorado, on December 14, 1993, 19-year-old former Chuck E. Cheese employee Nathan Jerard Dunlap returned to the restaurant seeking revenge after being fired five months earlier. Armed with a .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol, he hid until closing time and then launched a deadly ambush.
Details of the Crime
Dunlap entered the Chuck E. Cheese around 9:00 p.m., ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, and played arcade games. At about 9:50 p.m. he hid in a restroom. After the restaurant closed (around 10:05 p.m.), he emerged and shot five employees—four were killed, one seriously injured—as they cleaned up after closing. He forced the manager to open the safe, shot her again, and fled with cash and game tokens. He was arrested roughly twelve hours later at his mother’s apartment.
