Overview
On the morning of April 10, 2023, 25-year-old bank employee Connor James Sturgeon opened fire inside Old National Bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, killing five colleagues and injuring eight other people before he was fatally shot by responding officers. The attack was live-streamed on Instagram and unfolded within minutes as police converged on the scene.

The shooting occurred on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Old National Bank’s branch on the first floor of the Preston Pointe building at
333 E Main St, Suite 100, Louisville, KY 40202, near Louisville Slugger Field and Waterfront Park. Initial reports placed the gunman’s arrival shortly after 8:00 a.m. Eastern.
The Perpetrator
Connor Sturgeon was a 25-year-old employee of Old National Bank. Investigators later reported that he had legally purchased an AR-15–style rifle days before the attack. Sturgeon died after an exchange of gunfire with Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers inside the bank.
