Overview
Late on the night of November 19, 2022, a gunman identified by police as Anderson Lee Aldrich opened fire inside Club Q, an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The attack spanned the midnight hour into November 20, killing five people and injuring dozens more before patrons subdued the shooter. Police received the first 911 call at 11:56:57 p.m., were dispatched at 11:57 p.m., arrived at 12:00 a.m., and had the suspect in custody by 12:02 a.m.
The Crime
Witness accounts and official summaries describe Aldrich entering Club Q during a busy Saturday night and immediately opening fire. The rampage ended only when two patrons—Army veteran Richard M. Fierro and Navy sailor Thomas James—rushed the attacker, disarmed him, and restrained him until officers arrived. Their intervention is credited with preventing additional casualties.
