Details of Each Crime

Murder of Miguel Garcia
On January 22, 1989, around 4:40 a.m., an argument erupted between Manriquez and Miguel Garcia at the Las Playas restaurant in Paramount. The altercation escalated, resulting in Manriquez shooting Garcia multiple times before fleeing the scene. Witnesses described the assailant as a medium-built man in a gray suit. Garcia sustained gunshot wounds to the right eye, chin, neck, chest, lower back, and groin. Ballistics linked the bullets to a .380-caliber firearm later recovered from Manriquez.
Murder of George Martinez
On February 22, 1989, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Manriquez was at Fort Knots, a topless dance bar in South Gate. After allegedly touching dancer Daneen Baker inappropriately, he was ejected by doorman George Martinez. Manriquez attempted to re-enter multiple times and eventually returned with a handgun, fatally shooting Martinez at point-blank range.
Murder of Efrem Baldia
On November 29, 1989, around 2:00 p.m., Manriquez and his girlfriend, Sylvia Tinoco, were at the Rita Motel in Compton, consuming beer and cocaine. Efrem Baldia, previously linked romantically to Tinoco, arrived at the motel. An enraged Manriquez confronted the unarmed Baldia in the parking lot and fatally shot him.
Murder of Jose Gutierrez
