Miguel Garcia, a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot inside Las Playas restaurant in Paramount, California, on January 22, 1989, at approximately 5 a.m. The circumstances surrounding his death involved an argument between Garcia and another patron, Abelino Manriquez, which escalated into violence.
