Franklin Lynch: The Day Stalker

Background

Franklin Lynch, born in 1955, is an American serial killer currently on death row at San Quentin State Prison. Convicted of the murders of three elderly women during the summer of 1987, Lynch is also the prime suspect in ten other similar murders in San Leandro, California. These crimes were collectively referred to as "The Day Stalker Murders" due to the perpetrator's tendency to strike during daylight hours.

Modus Operandi

Lynch targeted elderly white women, often widowed or living alone. His method involved forcibly entering their homes during midday, assaulting and fatally beating the victims. While he did not commit sexual assaults, he consistently stole money and valuables, suggesting robbery as a motive. All known incidents occurred in San Leandro.
