Marie Lovardi, an 82-year-old woman from San Jose, California, was found dead in her home in October 1987. Her body was discovered in a closet after her great-grandson reported that the house had been ransacked and that his great-grandmother was missing. Authorities later determined that Lovardi had suffered blunt trauma, including a broken jaw and cheekbones, and that her death resulted from traumatic head and neck injuries.
