Tarrah Lynn Taylor, 26, a woman of White/Caucasian ethnicity from San Jose, was fatally shot in the early hours of September 16, 2025. Officers responding to reports of gunfire and a woman screaming on Chynoweth Avenue found Tarrah Lynn Taylor outside the home with gunshot wounds and visible neck trauma; she was taken to a hospital where she died. Inside, police discovered her roommate, 24-year-old Jeannessa Caillean Lurie, and 26-year-old Max Chavez Ryan, both suffering from gunshot wounds; Lurie died at the scene and Ryan later at a hospital. Court filings would later connect the killings to a domestic violence episode the day before.

In the days leading up to the shooting, Tarrah Lynn Taylor had reported to police that her former boyfriend, 27-year-old Joseph Charles Vicencio, had strangled and beaten her. According to investigators, witnesses recounted Vicencio discussing the prior assault, fretting about being reported to police, and referencing the need to prevent “loose ends.” Authorities say he returned after midnight and opened fire, killing Tarrah Lynn Taylor and the two others before fleeing.

Detectives identified Joseph Charles Vicencio as the suspect within hours. He was arrested the next day and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail without bail, later charged in the triple homicide tied to the domestic violence case. Coverage at the time noted that officials were still working through the connections among all three victims, even as loved ones publicly mourned them. Public records and memorials subsequently confirmed the identity and age of Tarrah Lynn Taylor on September 16, 2025.
