Early Life
Paul John Knowles, also known as "The Casanova Killer," was born on April 25, 1946, in Orlando, Florida. He spent much of his early life in foster homes and had his first run-in with the law at the age of 19.
Crime Spree
Knowles began his notorious crime spree after escaping from police custody on July 26, 1974. Over the next four months, he committed a series of brutal murders across multiple states.
Victims
- Alice Heneritta Curtis: July 26, 1974, Jacksonville, Florida. Knowles broke into her home, gagged her, and ransacked her house. Curtis choked to death due to being gagged.
- Ima Jean Sanders: August 1, 1974, Warner Robins, Georgia. Knowles claimed to have murdered the 13-year-old girl, whose skeletal remains were found in April 1976.
- Lillian Annette Anderson and Mylette Josephine Anderson: August 1, 1974, Jacksonville, Florida. Knowles claimed to have kidnapped and killed the 11-year-old and 7-year-old sisters, although this confession is believed to be false.
- Marjorie Howe: August 23, 1974, Atlantic Beach, Florida. Knowles strangled her with a nylon stocking and stole her television set.
- William Bates: September 3, 1974, Lima, Ohio. Knowles met Bates at a tavern, strangled him, and dumped his body in nearby woods.
- Emmett and Lois Johnson: September 18, 1974, Ely, Nevada. Knowles murdered the campers during his cross-country crime spree.
