Daniel Joe Hittle: A Detailed Account of His Crimes

Early Life and Initial Crimes

Born on March 1, 1950, in Perry County, Indiana, Daniel Joe Hittle was adopted by Henry and Margaret Hittle, who later moved to a farm in Motley, Minnesota. Described as a quiet individual with a propensity for violence when intoxicated, Hittle harbored deep resentment towards his adoptive mother, whom he viewed as overbearing. This animosity culminated on April 4, 1973, when, following an argument over a dog scratching his truck, Hittle fatally shot both Henry and Margaret Hittle in their home. He was subsequently arrested and pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder, receiving concurrent 30-year sentences.

Parole and Relocation to Texas

In 1984, after serving approximately 11 years, Hittle was paroled under a Minnesota bill allowing early release for model inmates. He relocated to Garland, Texas, where he continued his involvement with drugs, supplied by Mary Goss. Their relationship was tumultuous, marked by disputes over debts and incidents like Goss having Hittle arrested for slashing her tires.

The 1989 Killing Spree

En route, he was stopped for speeding by Officer Gerald Ray Walker, 48. Fearing the discovery of his weapon, Hittle shot Walker in the chest before fleeing. He then proceeded to Goss's residence, forcibly entered, and opened fire, killing Goss and two of her friends, Richard Joseph Cook, 36, and Raymond Scott Gregg, 19. After reloading, he also shot Goss's 4-year-old daughter, Christy Condon, in the face. ...Read More
