Samuel John Dieteman: The Phoenix Serial Shooter
Overview
Samuel John Dieteman, born on October 17, 1975, was one half of the infamous "Serial Shooter" duo that terrorized Phoenix, Arizona, between May 2005 and July 2006. Alongside his accomplice, Dale Hausner, Dieteman engaged in a spree of random drive-by shootings and arson attacks, targeting pedestrians, bicyclists, and even animals. Their actions left eight people dead and at least 19 others injured. The duo referred to their crimes as "random recreational violence."
Crimes
Dieteman and Hausner's crime spree began in May 2005 and continued until their arrest in August 2006. They primarily operated at night, driving around the Phoenix area and selecting random targets. The pair used firearms, including shotguns and rifles, to carry out their attacks. Their crimes also included setting objects on fire and killing animals.

- David Estrada (20) - Shot to death on June 29, 2005, in Tolleson, Arizona.
- Nathaniel Shoffner (44) - Murdered on November 11, 2005, while attempting to protect a dog from being shot.
- Jose Ortiz (44) and Marco Carillo (28) - Murdered on December 29, 2005.
- Claudia Gutierrez-Cruz (20) - Shot and killed by Dieteman on May 2, 2006, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
- Robin Blasnek (22) - The duo's last victim, shot and killed on July 30, 2006, in Mesa, Arizona.
