John Eric Armstrong: A Detailed Account of His Crimes

Early Life and Background

John Eric Armstrong was born on November 23, 1973, in New Bern, North Carolina. His early years were marked by significant trauma, including the death of his younger brother, Michael, from sudden infant death syndrome in 1978. This event profoundly affected Armstrong, leading to a suicide attempt at the age of five. His father left the family shortly thereafter, and Armstrong later revealed that he had been sexually abused by his father during childhood. Despite these challenges, he graduated from New Bern High School in 1992 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

Military Service and Overseas Murders

During his tenure in the Navy from 1992 to 1999, Armstrong served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. He traveled extensively, and it was during this period that he claimed to have committed numerous murders across various countries. While not all of these claims have been substantiated, Armstrong confessed to killings in the following locations:
  • Seattle, Washington: Allegedly involved in three murders.
  • Hawaii: Two murders claimed during port visits.
  • Hong Kong: Two victims reported.
  • North Carolina: One murder in his home state.
  • Virginia: Linked to a homicide.
  • Thailand and Singapore: One victim in each country.
It's important to note that while Armstrong confessed to these crimes, concrete evidence linking him to all these murders has not been established.

Crimes in Michigan

After his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1999, Armstrong settled in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Between December 1999 and April 2000, a series of murders targeting female sex workers occurred in the Detroit area. The known victims include:
  • Monica Johnson: Found beaten on December 3, 1999; she died the same day.
  • Wendy Jordan: Discovered strangled in the Rouge River on January 2, 2000.
  • Kelly Jean Hood: Body found in a railroad yard on April 10, 2000.
  • Rose Marie Felt: Discovered alongside Hood on April 10, 2000.
  • Robbin Brown: Also found on April 10, 2000, in the same vicinity as Hood and Felt.
These victims were all strangled, and their bodies were left in locations where they could be easily discovered, suggesting a desire for recognition or a compulsion to revisit the crime scenes. ...Read More
