Born on February 3, 1904, in Adairsville, Georgia, Floyd grew up in Oklahoma and became involved in crime at an early age. His first arrest came in 1925 for a payroll robbery in St. Louis, Missouri. Over time, he escalated his crimes, gaining notoriety for robbing banks across the Midwest.
The Kansas City Massacre
One of the most infamous incidents linked to Floyd was the Kansas City Massacre on June 17, 1933. The event took place outside Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, and resulted in the deaths of four law enforcement officers. Floyd, along with Adam Richetti and Vernon Miller, was accused of ambushing a police convoy attempting to transport fugitive Frank Nash. The massacre significantly increased Floyd’s notoriety.
