Felix Vail: Convicted Murderer and Suspected Serial Killer
Introduction
William Felix Vail, commonly known as Felix Vail, is an American convicted murderer who has long been suspected of killing three women with whom he had intimate relationships. His case spans more than two decades, beginning with the death of his first wife, Mary Horton Vail, in Louisiana in 1962. His longtime companion, Sharon Hensley, disappeared in 1973, and his later wife, Annette Michelle Craver Vail, vanished in 1984. Vail was the last known person to be with all three women.
Only Mary Vail's death has resulted in a murder conviction. Sharon and Annette remain missing, their bodies have never been recovered, and no legally confirmed dates of death have been established for them. Nevertheless, prosecutors presented their disappearances during Vail's murder trial as evidence of a disturbing pattern involving young women who vanished after becoming involved with him.
Victims and Missing Women
- Mary Elizabeth Horton Vail: Age 22. Murdered on October 28, 1962, in the Calcasieu River near Lake Charles, Louisiana. Her body was recovered from the river on October 30, 1962. Felix Vail was convicted of her murder on August 12, 2016.
- Sharon Hensley: Age 24. Last known to have communicated with her family in February 1973 while associated with Vail in Louisiana and Florida. She disappeared during 1973, but the precise date and location of her disappearance are uncertain. Her remains have never been found, and she has no verified date of death.
- Annette Michelle Craver Vail: Age 18. Officially listed as missing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, on October 22, 1984. Her family had last seen her earlier that month in Sulphur, Louisiana. Her remains have never been found, and she has no verified date of death.
