Pearl and Odell Jackson, an African-American couple from Alabama, were implicated in a series of brutal axe murders during the early 1920s. Their crimes contributed to a wave of violence that terrorized the Birmingham area, leading to numerous fatalities and injuries.

The Crimes

Between 1919 and 1924, Birmingham, Alabama, experienced a series of axe murders that claimed the lives of at least 26 individuals and left 21 others seriously injured. Both white and African-American communities were affected by these heinous acts. The Jacksons were arrested in 1924 and accused of participating in these murders, earning the moniker "The Alabama Axe Syndicate."
