On September 21, 2009, the small farming community of Beason, Illinois, was shaken by one of the most horrific family massacres in the state’s history. Christopher Harris, a 30-year-old man with personal ties to the victims, brutally murdered five members of the Gee family inside their home. The crime shocked the nation due to its brutality, the ages of the victims, and the motive, which prosecutors later revealed stemmed from Harris’s desire to silence witnesses after being caught viewing inappropriate material.
The Crime
In the early morning hours of September 21, 2009, Christopher Harris entered the Gee family home in Beason, Illinois. According to prosecutors, Harris had been watching pornography on the family’s computer and feared discovery. When 14-year-old Dillen Constant confronted him, Harris beat him to death with a tire iron. He then proceeded to murder the rest of the household to eliminate witnesses. The attack was savage, leaving the victims bludgeoned beyond recognition.
The Victims
The victims included both adults and young children. The following family members were killed:
- Rick Gee (46) – father of the household, bludgeoned to death.
- Ruth Gee (39) – mother of the household, murdered alongside her husband.
