John Robert Neumann Jr. — 2017 Orlando Workplace Mass Murder

Overview

On June 5, 2017, 45-year-old former Fiamma Inc. employee John Robert Neumann Jr. entered his old workplace in Orlando, Florida, and murdered five former co-workers before killing himself. Authorities described him as a disgruntled ex-employee; there was no indication of terrorism. The attack unfolded shortly after 8:00 a.m. and ended within minutes.

Timeline of the Attack

Neumann arrived at approximately 7:50 a.m., entered through a rear door, and moved first to the front office where he shot two people. He then went to the break room and killed three more. Witness accounts and the investigative timeline note he singled out victims, often shooting them in the head, and at one point pointed a gun at a temporary worker and told her to leave. He fired about 24 rounds in total and died by suicide as deputies arrived.
