Her crimes were sensationalized in the media, often linked to voodoo rituals and a cult called the "Church of Sacrifice."

Early Life

Clementine Barnabet was born in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. Her parents were Dina Porter and Raymond Barnabet, a sharecropper and petty criminal who reportedly abused his family. Clementine had at least one brother named Zepherin and a half-sister named Pauline.

The Murders

Clementine Barnabet's crimes were characterized by their brutality and the use of an ax to fracture the skulls of her victims. She initially confessed to two mass murders in February and November 1911 but later claimed involvement in a total of 35 killings.
